COQUALEETZA - "Vestigia Nulla Retrorsum" "No Backward Step"

Finally a positive book about native schools.  Written by Dorothy Matheson McIvor, the granddaughter of Princess Elizabeth Deeks of the Tsimshean Tribe of Port Simpson.  The book chronicles her time at the Coqualeetza Residential School in Sardis BC which was the largest Protestant Indian School in Canada.  

Dorothy writes of her earliest childhood memories to her graduation and beyond.  She reflects on some of the local history of the Fraser Valley and the Pacific Coast.  Dorothy also gives and insight into the Native Lifestyle in the late 1800's and early 1900's.
